About our story
Our Story
Bluegrass Bedding was built on the belief that there’s a better way to care for our horses and the environment. AtBlue Skies Horse Farm in Goshen, Kentucky, we experienced firsthand the frustration of unreliable, inconsistent bulk shavings — often full of old nails, pallet chunks, or damp, moldy material.
About three years ago, we made the switch topelletized bedding, and the difference was immediate. As aLayup and Rehabilitation barn for Thoroughbred racehorses, quality bedding isn’t optional — it’s essential. Cleaning stalls took half the time, waste volume was cut by more than 50%, and the barn air became noticeably cleaner and fresher. Gone was the lingering ammonia smell and the constant dust cloud.
Convinced by the results, we began working directly with manufacturers to create a product that met our uncompromising standards. The result wasBluegrass Bedding— a premium, ultra-low-dust pine pellet bedding made for those who expect the best for their horses.
What started as a practical solution for our own barn quickly grew into a passion-driven,family-owned business. Our family has raised our two children right here on this farm, surrounded by the same horses we care for every day. That hands-on experience guides everything we do, from how we source our materials to how we serve our customers.
We’re proud to be part of Kentucky’s equine community and are working to grow this brand byleaning on the trust and support of fellow horsemen, trainers, and farmswho share our values of quality, care, and sustainability.
